A laminar flow hood delivers a steady stream of HEPA-filtered air across the work surface to keep samples free of particles. It is used for sterile media prep, plating, electronics and optics assembly, and other work where the product needs protection.
Current options include the new Erlab Captair FLOW 391, a 39-inch hood with HEPA filter, UV light and stainless steel work surface, and a pre-owned Germfree BHZ-4-RX 4 ft laminar flow hood.
An important safety note: a laminar flow hood protects the sample, not the user. Airflow moves toward the operator, so it is not suitable for infectious agents, hazardous chemicals or anything you should not breathe. For that work you need a Class II biosafety cabinet or a chemical fume hood.
When comparing units, look at work area width, filter condition, noise level and whether a UV light or stand is included. Each listing states the condition, what is included and lead time. Browse every hood type in one place in lab hoods.
